Drawings

Audette began drawing from life at an early age and while she studied art during the mid-twentieth century when abstraction was heavily favored in both academic and popular circles, she remained devoted to representational work throughout her career. For Audette, drawing could be an art unto itself or a means to an end. Along these lines, some drawings she created to stand alone as finished works. Other drawings she undertook in order to understand the fundamentals of structure and composition. The act of drawing gave her insights into form. Audette began her prints, and later her paintings, with detailed sketches. Drawing was always the backbone of her work.
